Tag! Get to Know Me!

Before we delve into my questions and answers, I owe a huge thank you to my girl Louida, who blogs over at Product Review Mom for selecting me to participate in this game of tag.

Okay, here we go...

1. Are you named after someone?
Yes, I share my middle name, Jane, with my mother's twin, whose middle name is also Jane. (Jane is my daughter Kennedy's middle name, too.)

2. When was the last time you cried?
I can't recall. But I did feel profound sadness a few nights ago when The Hubs and I were watching HBO's The Wire, and on this particular episode, there were kids fending for themselves as their parents ran amok, completely strung out on drugs. No child should ever have to live like that.

3. Do you have kiddos?
Sure do. A son, Scotty, Jr. (2.5 years old) and a daughter, Kennedy (6 months old):

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?
For the most part, yes. But I wholeheartedly admit to being a real pain in the ass when I'm hungry or frustrated. I'm working on that.

5. Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Bravo TV, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and champagne after the kids are tucked at night. (Although, I don't really feel all that guilty about the champagne; and it’s not every night, either.)

6. Do you like your handwriting?
I abhor my handwriting – and it has only gotten even worse due to my constant typing and texting.

7. What’s your favorite cereal?
 Nature's Path granola

8. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
First, their eye contact. The energy they give off is a close second.

9. What is your eye color?
Dark Brown

10. Scary movie or happy endings?
It's a toss up. It depends.

11. Favorite TV show?
Although I don’t watch a lot of TV, I have several shows that I enjoy. But I think I’m going to have to go with Sex and the City.

12. Summer or Winter?
Neither. I prefer spring or fall.

13. Hugs or Kisses?
With my family? Tons of both!

14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?
Europe.

15. Do you have any special talents?
I studied Spanish, German, and Arabic in college and, in some cases, can still get by; I can play the flute; I can cry just like a newborn baby; and I can find a yellow needle in a haystack on eBay. I'm the jack of all trades, master of none.

16. Where were you born?
Ann Arbor, Michigan. (Go Blue!)

17. What are your hobbies?
Blogging, teaching and practicing yoga, writing, traveling, and reading.

18. Do you have any pets?
No. But I love my mother's Bichon Frise, Sir Meister, like a little brother. He has quite the collection of Halloween get-ups:

19. Favorite movie?
Casino

20. What color is your car?
Maroon

21. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I’ll do work that is fun and helpful; I’ll become a successful lifestyle expert and New York Times bestselling author; and I’d like to be interviewed by Oprah. Yeah, I dream big. (Hey, if I don’t believe in me, why should anyone else?)

This game is like the gift that keeps on giving because I've tagged the following awesome bloggers:

    1. Susie!! You crack me up! Please know that you were one of the very first bloggers I thought of for this game of Tag, but I figured since you recently answered a ton of questions for your well-deserved Liebster, I didn't want you to feel obligated to answer yet another set! My next round of tag, you are SO it!!!

      Consider yourself warned. lol

    3. No, Nicole, SUSIE is the blonde Bear -- or so she says. I'm not buying it, though. I don't see how she can even remotely be characterized as a bear. Have you seen her? She's gorgeous.

    4. Oh Courtney, that's so sweet! You too my friend are a hottie! My hubby drew the Susiesaurous for my Liebster post. After I published it we both thought it should have blonde hair and long eyelashes! Perhaps he can draw a bear like that!
Okie Dokie I will be ready if I get tagged....well maybe I won't. I have a memory like a goldfish sometimes. I can remember things for 3 seconds then they float out of my melon. Look a sand castle.....Look a sand castle!!

    5. Yes, Courtney, I know that Susie is the sparkly, blonde bear! I thought it was a perfect choice... if she were going to ever choose to describe herself as one! lol! :)

  4. I've just been thinking about how I need to add a bit more champagne into my life! Seriously! I rarely drink, but I enjoy some bubbly sweetness now and then! :)

My husband and I watched The Wire a few years ago too. Riveting - and yes, sad. :(

Thanks for sharing the little slice of your life! Q & A is a fun and easy way to do a post. I remember when these were popular on Facebook way back when I first joined. It's always fun to do a current update, though. I think I'll play on Friday. :)

    1. Great! I'll definitely stop back by your place on Friday. It's a date! lol

Isn't The Wire something? Raw, is more like it...

I wasn't on FB when these Q&As were all the rage...would you believe I just joined FB two months ago? And even then it was only to create a fan page for my blog...

      Have a great day!

    1. No rush or pressure, really. Hell, I understand how things can get hectic: I'm over here saddled with a sick 2 yo and 6-month-old...as I try to wipe my own nose and swallow despite a throat that feels as if I've been drinking lighter fluid. (Not that I know what the latter feels like; I'm just saying...)

Really, just wanted to know I thought of you for this activity. You get to it when you get to it...

  7. I really enjoyed learning something about you...I love how you all are keeping the name Jane going that's cool...Oh The Wire I used to watch every episode of that show.

    1. Thank you! I, too, think it is cool to pass something like that down, and, fingers crossed, if Kennedy has a daughter she will do the same...

Oh, The Wire. The writing is riveting. The Hubs and I own the DVD collection, and practically watched the entire series on the plane on our portable DVD player while we were en route to our honeymoon. We hadn't watched it since, but needed something to watch together while he's on vacation...

      It is just so raw.

Thank you, again, for commenting -- and getting the ball rolling with this game of tag!

    1. "Oh, Frankie...oh, Frankkie!" (Insert image of an underwear-clad Nicky in a ditch). Yeah, that scene totally brings a tear to my eye...

I swear, if I am flipping through the channels and that movie is on, I HAVE to stop and watch. No matter where it is in the movie. I love Sharon Stone in it. I love
      DeNiro in it. LOVE it.

Thank you for visiting -- and commenting! <3

Ugh. Don't even get me started on my penmanship-that-looks-more-like-chicken-scratch. I swear, it used to look semi-decent before e-mail came along...

I'm making a note to stop by your place after I put the kiddos to be tonight...

  11. I also studied Spanish and Arabic (and Chinese) in college, though my Arabic is pretty much non-existent now. I play the flute and consider myself a jack-of-all trades, master of none!

And I love Reese's peanut butter cups too :)

    1. Okay, Stephanie, if you tell me you like shrimp cocktail and you dip your fries in mayo, then I am going to make a strong case that we may have been separated at birth.

I can't wait to explore your blog further; thank you for visiting (and commenting) here!

    1. I'm not even kidding, Kimberly. Let me tell you a (quick) little story...

So several years ago, my mom found this beautiful -- and rare -- made-in-Italy fine leather purse. It was super unique, was actually reversible, and had handles made of pure tortoiseshell. Well, one of the handles snapped in two after she had owned the purse for *years.*

Well, thanks to my eBay prowess, I found the exact purse after a hard-nosed search. And I bought it for a steal, to boot.

I can'r wait to read your answers! Thank you for participating! <3

  14. Courtney!! I've been trying to make some time to play your game but it's been crazy for me right now. My grandma is 90 years old and aside from her attendants I'm the one who does it all. Put that with day to day and you know how it goes, but thanks for thinking of me loved your comments, chat again soon :)xo

    1. Oh, Mari. I completely understand. Heck, I know how unexpected curve balls that get thrown our way can take a bite out of the time we'd like to dedicate to blogging. Again, I totally understand, and you didn't have to let me know, but I certainly appreciate that you did.

I'm sorry about your grandma, Mari...hang in there and know that I'll be sending some warm thoughts your way.

(Totally off topic here, but I had been meaning to ask you: Are you planning on attending the Bloggy Moms conference this September in Ohio?)
