The Video Diaries: Closet Relics – Part Two

On the heels of Part One of this series comes this next round of sartorial mainstays.

And now we’re getting down to the nitty-gritty.

I kid you not, if someone were to make the poor choice to try and remove one of the following items from my closet against my will…well, let’s just say they may just draw back a nub. Or leave my closet empty-handed with a black eye. Not that I condone violence. I don’t.

But I also don’t advise messing with these treasures of mine because, make no mistake, they are here to stay...

This post is also linked up to #FashionFriday, which is co-hosted by Audrey McClellan of Mom Generations. I've been reading Audrey's blog for years now, and first became aware of her by way of Chicken Soup for the Soul when Audrey interviewed me for Zulily.com in celebration of a Chicken Soup for the Soul promotion they were running back in 2011...

I'll be back on Wednesday with my most coveted relics for the final installment in this series, but in the meantime, what are the vintage treasures currently hanging in your closet?

  1. I love that backpack, Courtney! They are classic staple piece that are a must keep. I don't hang on to much when it comes to clothes however I do a pair of brown suede boots that I purchased when my oldest was a baby. He's 25 now! I love those boots and always get compliments when I wear them! I also have a jean jacket that isn't quite as old as the boots!

    1. Good Morning, Susie! Those boots sound like the stuff that magic is made of. That is beyond awesome that you STILL rock them! LOVE that story; thank you for sharing.

Have a beautiful day, my friend!

  2. I love your closet relics! Jean jackets are great for the summer. I love my purses too... the backpack is especially cute.

I have a few closet relics I can't let go of... my absolutely favourite is a black, short-sleeve terry towel dress. It has white cuffs and a white v neck trim. It's so comfortable and I just can't part with it! I've had it for almost eight years and I wear it every summer.

    Wishing you a lovely day.

    1. Okay, Jennifer, now I am semi-obsessed with this legend of a dress you've just described...the options with this dress appear to be unlimited -- it sounds like a little black dress (LBD) 2.0

I wouldn't let go of a treasure like that, either, my friend!

    1. Aren't they the best? I mean, what Can't be worn with a denim jacket. Do you know what I like? I LOVE it when those glossy mags like, say, Elle, Vogue, and Vanity Fair do spreads in which a model (or actress) is wearing a beautiful ball gown, and then they pair it with a jean jacket or motorcycle jacket! LOVE. I don't know where in the hell I'd rock that, but I *swoon* over that look...

Thank you for stopping by and commenting! #DenimJacketLove

  4. Your purses! We moved 2 years ago and had to have all of our items in storage for 6 months before we ended up in our home. Sadly, when we arrived there were no purses... Very, very sad. Hopefully someone somewhere is enjoying my beauties.

    1. Jennifer, you've got to be kidding.

But I know you're not! The. Horror. I mean, intellectually, I know that they are just material things, but dammit if I would an initial pang of "Awww, man!" when I discovered that my purses had "vanished." Did you file a police report?

Thank you for stopping by and, of course, commenting! I still have to do my foot soak. I had everything ready the other night, and then one word: Teething. Okay, two words: Teething sucks. :-(

  5. My staple piece is my jean jacket and I could never let it go. I can't view your video since I'm at work so I'll need to check out your must-haves when I get home.

    1. Okay, Louida, thanks!

Our affinity for jean jackets is but another thing we have in common... :-)

  6. Haaaa! Love that acid wash jean jacket! I definitely think the price of those right now is sky high for no apparent reason. Jean jackets and other items seem to always come back so I don't blame you not one bit for wanting to keep certain things. The valor jacket and the shirt looks so comfortable. :)

    1. No, Brittnei, no! Your eyes are playing tricks on you (I'm JOKING; I know the poor quality of my video is to blame): That lighter colored jacket wasn't actually an acid wash jacket -- it's just a lighter, pale-colored denim. (No disrespect at all to those who like acid wash; lol)

Oh, yes: Juicy velour is the bee's knees. lol

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.
