Happy 4th from The Conovers

Wherever you may be this weekend, I hope you’ll see the flicker of lightening bugs, hear the crackle of a shiny sparkler, or taste the goodness of a S’more fresh from the fire pit…

As you read this post, it is my hope that we’ll be doing one (if not all) of the above (and not getting eaten alive by the man-sized mosquitoes in our backyard, who always seem to have us on the menu. If you're looking for a decent all-natural alternative to traditional mosquito repellent, try Murphy's Mosquito Sticks, by the way.)

July 7th is a pretty big deal here at Casa Conover, and I’ll be back on Monday with a brand spanking new post to tell you why...

We wish you, your family, and friends a safe and happy Independence Day!

    1. Hi, Tamara! Pick up the sticks, they're good, but if you want maximum mosquito protection, you MUST get this stuff by Cutter that The Hubs bought at Walmart this morning...you spray it on the grass and surrounding trees and bushes and it claims to offer up to 8 weeks of protection (we'll see about that...) I forget what it's called, but look at my blog's FB page, as I posted about it, which includes a pic of the bottle.

We live in a wooded area and have a river running through our backyard. Very pretty, but it's a mosquito's paradise. :-(

Happy Fourth to you and your beautiful family as well!

  5. Hi Courtney - Happy 4th of July to you and your wonderful family! We had a low key BBQ and watched the neighborhood fireworks. No mosquitoes (we have Mosquito Squad) but I'm covered head to toe in poison ivy. Does that count? ;-) Hugs, Holly

    1. WHAT!? Poison ivy?

      You win.

I officially have no more grounds on which to bitch and complain.

Oh, Holly, I'm sorry. Incessant skin irritation aside, I sure hope you had a good Fourth, and I am grateful that you stopped by and commented on our blog. THANK YOU.

    1. Hi, Kristen...yes, we did have a fabulous weekend --a relaxing and "chill" one, just what the doctor ordered...TI don't know if you saw my reply to Tamara's comment above, but tell your family about mosquito lawn and plant spray by Cutter. It works like a charm and claims to offer up to 8 weeks of protection (we'll see about that...) I posted a pic of it on my blog's FB page...We live in a wooded area and have a river running through our backyard, so our mosquitoes are the size of a small child. :-(

Happy Fourth, again, and thank you for commenting!
