The Conover Family's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

We did it!

Watch our video below and see how our whole family gets in on the act -- and how a three-hour blowout can be ruined in a matter of seconds, all for a good cause, of course...

In addition to accepting this challenge on our own accord, we've donated funds to the ALS Association. And now we challenge the lovely readers of The Brown Girl with Long Hair blog:

*Share your ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on the "Posts to Page" section our Facebook page
or donate to the ALS Association

*And if you've enjoyed this video, please feel free to share it with your family and friends!

    1. Thank you, Stefanie! How are you!? And congrats on 600 FB likes! (I "liked" your page back when I found you through SITS in April when we were (ironically) vacationing on the East Coast!

Have a super day, and thank you for stopping by today.

  2. Oh man, you all are so brave! I am not an ice water girl, under any circumstances - with the rare exception of in my glass on a really ridiculously hot day, and then I take small sips. :P

    1. Hi, Dakota! I totally get your aversion to ice; I do. Man, that ice water felt worse than I could have imagined. (Call me a wuss, go ahead; I won't argue.) I really didn't give much thought to this after we decided to do it because, if I had, I would have jumped out of my chair and ran for the hills as soon as Scott picked up the bucket! lol

Kennedy, on the other hand, has nerves of steel -- she flinched, and that was it. She's tough. She takes after her Daddy. ;-)

  3. Too stinkin cute! Lil Scotty was not feeling it. I have a cousin that has ALS and I'm really loving this cause. It breaks my heart what he is going through with this disease and I'm glad it is now getting awareness.

I don't know if I can do the ice and ice water but will be donating.

    1. Hi, Louida! And thank you SO much for sharing your comment today. BIG {hugs} to your cousin, and for him -- and everyone else -- who is fighting the good fight against this terrible, terrible disease. I, too, am so glad that it is now on everyone's radar...

Yeah, Scotty responded quite noisily -- just like his mama. lol Kennedy, on the other hand? She's a trooper...like her Daddy. lol

  5. Holy cow! You are all so dang cute and you got your lovely hair all wet! Your hubby with 2 buckets...I would expect nothing less from him! That was awesome! I am not sure I could do it. I don't even like ice in my water!!

    1. Susie, I am right there with you. In lockstep. I actually prefer my water to be room temperature; borderline warm; with extra lemon, but I digress...lol

I'm not even going to begin to tell you about the state of my tresses. All I can say is I need a blowout, stat. I think I'll do it tomorrow night after I put the kiddos to bed...

  6. Hi Team Conover - Sitting here with my parents watching your video. My Mother lost her sister two years ago to ALS. My comment is Kennedy was the best trooper! Mom says funny and good job. Dad says Scott is a big dude - should have used 4 buckets. You guys are awesome! You guys are the best (that one is from Dad). Love and hugs from Holly, Mamma and Dad.

    1. First, I am so, SO sorry about your mother's sister.

I just shared your comment with Scott, who was looking over my shoulder as I read it...

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Holly -- to you and your lovely Mamma and Dad.

Oh, and by the way, please tell them that they've raised one gem of a daughter. But, then, I know they already know that. ;-)

(p.s. I will be in touch soon about our other collaboration. ;-)

...and my hair looks so atrocious now! lol

    1. Isn't it, Lexa? It was SO worth the unbearably cold water -- and the copious amounts of frizzy hair that ensued afterward. :-/

      Thank you for commenting.

  9. LOL LOL LOL. You all are amazing. Your daughter didn't even shed a tear. And I can't believe you let your hair get wet. Girl I would have done it Sannaa Lathan style with a shower cap on. Anyway, mine is coming up this weekend. I've missed you. Took a break for a while but I'm back. Hope you had an awesome summer.

    1. Angela!!! I've missed you, too!! Thank you for coming by...I'm a subscriber of your blog and have noticed that the e-mails had stopped for a while, so I'm glad you're back!!

Thank you for your kind words, and, girl, my hair is tore up from the floor up today. Straight up Frizz City. I've got to hunker down and do my blowout tonight or tomorrow night...

We had a fantastic summer, and I hope you guys have as well.

Thanks, again, for your comment, my friend.
